November 16th, 2009The Marcus Beach House by BARK Design Architects is a prime example of just how beautiful, sustainable and natural contemporary living can be. Situated a few hundred meters from nearby Marcus Beach, this home rests on a sandy site with lush ferns, breezy palms and a 100-year-old Moreton Bay Ash as its centerpiece. BARK Design Architects protected the sanctity of the property’s nature by not only leaving it alone, but making it the focal point of the home’s architecture.
SLEEPBOX BY ARCH GROUP
November 15th, 2009Arch Group’s innovative SLEEPBOX design is intended to provide a comfortable night sleep, the mobile 3.75 m2 unit can be located anywhere people need a place to rest or relax such as airports, train stations, shopping centers, or even in the middle of the streets. “We believe that urban infrastructure should be more comfortable for people,” explained the architects. Rented for between fifteen minutes and several hours, the SLEEPBOX provides moments of quiet sleep and rest from the city as clients can rest on foamed polymer beds, which are equipped with an automatic system that changes bed linen once the client leaves. But a bed is not the only accommodation the SLEEPBOX provides. The unit is also equipped with a ventilation system, sound alerts, built-in LCD TV, WiFi, sockets for a laptop, charging phones and space for luggage. After clients feel refreshed and leave the unit, the automatic change of bed linen starts and the quartz lamps turn on. Clients can pay for the time spent in the unit at a shared terminal, which provides the client with an electronic key.
SIX RAMSGATE BY WALLFLOWER ARCHITECTURE = MY DREAM HOME
November 6th, 2009Looking at this beautiful creation, and I don’t think there is one thing i can say negative about this home. The 855 square metered space on a 1200 square meter site and all the courtyards have different material finishes. That helps to maintain temperature difference between courtyards, the living, dining and pool. That difference helps to catch breezes that move around the house. The second storey of the house has solid hardwood louvers that can be adjusted by hand allow the desired amount of breeze and sunlight to filter through.
CELLULOID JAM by Norisada Maeda Atelier
November 5th, 2009First of all I just want to say, I am not that thrilled about the landscape of this home, but i am definitely in love with the design. The curves and modern structure. Norisada Maeda Atelier definitely pays attention to detail, and the smooth curvature of the walls just get me going. I definitely have a huge obsession with modern and contemporary architecture. Less is more, and simplicity shines through all.
SENSATIONAL MODERN HOME
November 3rd, 2009I don’t think i can find one thing wrong with this home. The home is from Sao Paulo, Brazil and is designed by Marcio Kogan on a 1700 square meter area that encloses 700 square meters of living space on its two floors. Italian windows help maintain transparency, giving a magnificent view of the pool and the garden while doubling up as walls as well.
Having been covered in natural wood, the house alternates between tones of white helping in naturally illuminating the house with ample sunlight. Construction details, on the interior and the exterior have been done with perfection, giving the house a delightful and pleasant finish.
Various Merit awards by differently awarding agencies like IV Bienal IBERO Americana, ASBEA – Group of Projects and World Architecture Award have been granted to the design of the house as well.
