Coca_Cola-Velcro

I thought this was pretty interesting of coca cola to do, Grip Bottle in bus stops ad. They are made with velcro, so if you lean or get anywhere near them wearing woolly cloths, you’d get stuck.

The ads were designed to highlight the better grip the new bottles offer. They placed them in bus stop shelters in Paris, ready to rip cashmere sweaters and expensive clothes. But instead of hating them, the French bought 3.8% more of their sugar water.

What I want to see is an image of one of these ads after a week of being there. I can imagine giant balls of dust with cats and drunk people inside.

I spoke with Micah Barrett the other night, He was telling me a little bit about the challenges of art school and the things he had created. I snooped around his little blog and found a few things that I couldn’t resist to share. This project “about time” just amazes me, the concept and simplicity.  The design just communicates to you, right when you look at it their is a connection to you that just speaks out. He had mentioned he definitely enjoyed this one, and here is something he mentioned  “I could spend 20 minutes waiting in line for something and be frustrated, bored and it feels like an eternity, or I could be spending those same 20 minutes drawing or playing a video game and it feels like only a few seconds passed.”

A convex logo substitutes colorfully sprayed can. Naked can help to reduce air and water pollution occurred in its coloring process. It also reduces energy and effort to separate toxic color paint from aluminum in recycling process. Huge amount of energy and paint required to manufacture colored cans will be saved. Instead of toxic paint, manufacturers process aluminum with a pressing machine that indicates brand identity on surface.

DESIGN FOR OBAMA ORG

November 12th, 2009

Here are some designs that were submitted to Design Obama. First off I think some of the work is amazing, these are a few that i personally liked, but I also live by the motto LESS is MORE. I think it is crazy how many people are just full on obsessed with Obama, he is like the new modern day Jesus to America. It is crazy, I personally could care less about him, but if he does a good job and makes changes, not just promise them. Then maybe I will jump on the wagon. Even though just him being elected did a good amount of work to get the changes going.

This was a project that was created by Francesco Muzzi, last year. I enjoyed looking at this on behance, the photos, concept and layout is just nicely put together. Only if I could read it, it would be even more enjoyable and informative. Their concept  main concept was to put everything in an historical perspective, showing how some of the energy sources we now consider as “alternative” were once the most common, showing how the future could get and finally showing the present as just a point in a long evolutionary process.

DESIGNING TO CHANGE THE WORLD!

November 10th, 2009

Whether we realize it or not, we live in a designed world. The question is: will this be a design for destruction or for a sustainable new world that we can safely hand down to our children and our children’s children?

Our idea of design goes beyond the way things look to the way things work. To paraphrase Marcel Duchamp, we set out to liberate design from “the tyranny of the eye.” Surveying the world we found hundreds of examples where visionaries were using design to effect positive change in the world. We called this pattern Massive Change.

periodic

When you’re hungry you want nothing else but something to eat right in front of you to satisfy your appetite, right? Imagine someone in that state asks you to do some work like reading or writing. Bad though! The Periodic Picnic Table might coerce you to do so but only if you’re suffering from chemistry mania. Going through the periodic table is not so good idea when you’re damn hungry but oh so cool when you just wanna kill time and recall your school days. A nice piece of home furniture, the Periodic Picnic Table of Elements wherever placed (indoors or outdoors) does the miracle of grabbing each one’s attention.
